Stanko (Stanley Gyura)- Artist Bio
Stanko is an internationally known abstract artist originally from Montreal. His artwork has been exhibited in various venues and private expositions in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and New York. His paintings can be found throughout North America, as well as in Europe.
Stanko's artistic journey began in his childhood during weekly visits to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
He was introduced to abstract paintings through the work of Jean Riopelle, one of the greatest Canadian painters and sculptors from Quebec. Stanko greatly admires his work and was privileged to have met him. It is through the art of Jean Riopelle that Stanko got his first inspiration to paint.
Nowadays, Stanko's primary source of inspiration comes from his perceptions of people, society, and deep emotions. His paintings are the pure and intense expressions of his emotional and perceptual world.
